Bed and Breakfast Cagliari: Activities

Water Sports

Although the fascinating inland Sardinia is well worth a visit and each year attracts a greater number of visitors, the island has always been famous for the exquisite beauty of its coasts and sea.
Il Locandiere is ideally located for those who enjoy water sports. A short walk from the villa we find the marina of Capitana, which is large enough to host boats up to 28 meters long.

In 2009 it was awarded a FEE Blue Flag for the quality of the marina's water and the services offered. The restaurant-pizzeria, located on the grounds, is appreciated by boaters and visitors. It is possible to book a sea excursion, hire a boat or rubber dinghy, to freely enjoy the area's beautiful coasts.

The staff of the diving center are on hand to give advice about the most fascinating local diving sites, as well as information on courses, guided dive trips or equipment rental. One of the most spectacular diving sites near Capitana is undoubtedly the wreck of the Romagna, which was sunk in 1943 by a British submarine.

If you are willing to drive a few extra kilometres to Villasimius, the Capo Carbonara Protected Marine Area, with its canyons and stretches of sea fans, and rich marine life is an unforgettable experience for both experienced divers and those on their first visit to the marvels of the underwater world.

Horseback riding

Discovering Sardinia on horseback is an unforgettable experience. Horses have shared our lives since Phoenician times, and still today we see so many signs of this animal's place in the island's culture. Just think of festivals such as the Sartiglia in Oristano and the Ardia in Sedilo, or consider the important role of horses in ceremonies and events such as Sant’Efisio in Cagliari or the Cavalcata Sarda in Sassari.

The island is a crisscross of mule tracks and panoramic trails. If you are lucky enough to go riding in Supramonte, or in the Giara di Gesturi, or discover the Sulcis region, you will grow to love the island even more.

During your stay at il Locandiere you can chose between a coastal trail through the Mediterranean maquis overlooking a breathtaking panorama, or riding in through nature in the nearby Sette Fratelli Park.

To discover Sardinia's inland regions, start off along one of the paths traced by charcoal setters and shepherds over hundreds of years, and admire a universe of wild spectacular landscapes of incredible colour and fragrance.
In Supramonte you will find some of the island's most beautiful, challenging, and spectacular hiking trails. The area of Oliena, with the summits of mounts Cusidore, Albo and Corrasi, the nuragic village of Tiscali, the Gola di Gorroppu. The Golgo high plateau is the starting point for paths that travel through landscapes of scented maquis and lead to the coves of the Golfo di Orosei (Goloritzé, Mariolu, Sisine, Biriola).
Il locandiere, is not only ideally situated for hiking in the area of Sarrabus and the Sette Fratelli Park. It is also close to the new SS 125 expressway that will take you quickly to Ogliastra and its magical nature.

Sardinia has long been a paradise for climbers from all parts of Europe, with its warm climate that makes climbing possible any season of the year, and a variety of cliff formations and splendid scenery.
The most popular areas to the east are those near Cala Gonone and Ogliastra. To the west, not far from Cagliari, are climbing zones near Domusnovas and Isili.
In Cagliari itself, from Calamosca it is easy to reach the Cala Fighera cliff. Another site in the Campidano region is Villacidro with the granite and layered basalt walls of Monte Arci.
Il locandiere is strategically located to reach these beautiful climbing sites. Furthermore, nearby we have Solanas, Villasimius and Costa Rey, all quite popular for boulderers.

Sardinia's roads, particularly those along the coast, seem to be specially built to delight and thrill those who love motorcycling.
The weather is almost always perfect and the superb roads curve along the edge of cliffs overlooking the sea. The cyclist's hardest job will be keeping his eyes on both the scenery AND the road.
The coastal road, SP 17, which starts in Quartu Sant’Elena, and passes near il Locandiere to reach Villasimius, is a favourite among bikers. The island, however, offers infinite possibilities for day trips or longer visits to discover so many facets of this Mediterranean jewel.

Sardinia boasts some of the Mediterranean's most beautiful golf courses, both from the technical point of view and for their gorgeous setting. The most famous are surely Il Pevero, in Costa Smeralda, and Is Molas in Pula.
Only 5 minutes from il Locandiere you will find the Golf Club Sa Tanca where you can practice your sport immersed in Sardinia's fragrant vegetation, and then relax in its top quality clubhouse.
In Villasimius, at the Tanka Golf Club, you can enjoy a game of golf and at the same time admire the beauty of the sea and the nature of the Villasimius - Capo Carbonara Protected Marine Area.

Just a few steps from il Locandiere, spa facilities are available at the Sighientu Life Village, one of the best structures in Sardinia, completely built in natural materials. The spa includes: sauna, hammam, massage room, fitness room, and offers the possibility to book an aromatherapy treatment and enjoy the benefits of thermal and thalassotherapy treatments in a splendid 32° seawater pool.
